MTSI is seeking a motivated and proactive systems engineer to join our team in Dayton, OH. The role focuses on capability development and early systems engineering for complex systems, often involving emerging technologies. The successful candidate will apply modern digital engineering approaches and tools, stay current with technologies and regulatory requirements, and serve as a technical advisor to help ensure performance, reliability, and safety across projects. The position requires independent critical thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical representative for systems engineering methodologies, tools, and processes related to pre-program of record technical development and capability development.
- Lead and/or participate in the design, development, and integration of systems, subsystems, and components from concept through experimentation, prototyping, production, and sustainment.
- Conduct detailed analysis and modeling of systems, including performance, effectiveness, and vulnerability assessments.
- Develop and maintain system specifications, technical documentation, and engineering drawings.
- Develop and execute test plans and procedures to verify system performance and compliance with requirements.
- Analyze test data, identify performance issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems related to systems.
- Expand technical expertise through training and continuous education.
- Stay abreast of advancements in technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program management, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
- 5 years of systems engineering experience on complex systems, with at least 3 years using modern digital engineering tools and processes to perform system engineering tasks.
- Knowledge of system of systems concepts, design principles, technologies, and architectures.
- Proficient understanding of systems engineering principles and processes.
- Proficiency with digital engineering software/tools (for example MATLAB, Atlassian, ANSYS, CAMEO, Team Work Cloud, CAD software, AFSIM, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and knowledge of relevant military standards and specifications.
- Desired additional skills include experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools and Python scripting.
- Clearance: Must possess an active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility. U.S. Citizenship is required.
