About the Role
Remote public safety design and implementation engineer for Motorola’s ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies, supporting State and Local government agencies. This role involves travel (25-50%) to projects in the T4E territory across NC, SC, and GA, collaborating with Sales, Project Management, and Engineering teams to deliver mission-critical systems. What You'll Do

Design and implement the radio network including infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul and WAN/CEN networks

Engage with customers and consultants for design reviews, staging, acceptance testing, coverage testing, live upgrades, and troubleshooting

Lead system buildout, configuration, and verification testing in lab and field environments

Conduct radio coverage testing, frequency analysis, and interference mitigation

Manage radio system licensing (FCC/Industry) and prepare system fleet maps, encryption templates, and programming templates

Create and maintain complete system documentation; execute live system cutovers and upgrades

Collaborate with a cross-functional team (Sales, PM, System Engineering, System Technologists, Construction Managers, Customer Service) to deliver on project milestones until system acceptance

Travel 25-50% to support projects within the T4E territory (NC/SC/GA) What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline and 3+ years of engineering/technical experience, or 5+ years of engineering/technical experience

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely

Strong RF engineering knowledge, P25 LMR expertise, and familiarity with ASTRO 25
-
Experience with VMware ESXi, Linux, and Windows environments

Experience with remote site construction (site selection, grounding, tower and shelter requirements)

Familiarity with Fortinet/Juniper firewalls, Nokia 7705 routers, Juniper SRX/MX, HP/Aruba switches

Proficiency with remote access tools (SSH, SCP, SFTP, RDP)

Knowledge of networking protocols (RSVP-TE, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SIP, RTP, SNMP, NAT) and IP networking concepts

Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA are a plus

Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively Nice to Have

Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 architecture is a plus

Target Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 USD. Pay is transparent and varies based on knowledge, skills, and experience. The final offer will reflect the individual candidate.
