Job title: Systems Development Engineer (Mid/Senior)
About the Role The Systems Development Engineer is part of BorgWarner's Kraków Technical Center and belongs to the PowerDrive Systems engineering competency. The role focuses on system features for inverters across the full V-cycle, from concept to final testing.
What You'll Do
- Lead technical development for the system feature with cross-functional development teams, component leads and customers.
- Negotiate technical requirements, scope and subcontract deliverables for the system feature.
- Drive system-level requirements and architectural proposals; ensure designs meet requirements and test quality.
- Manage suppliers and partners to maintain internal quality processes through development, execution and verification.
- Lead technical analyses, trade-off studies, FMEAs, design reviews, and customer presentations.
- Coordinate all systems engineering activities and product deliverables per the SE process; be a single point of reference for changes and issue investigations.
- Collaborate with SW, HW and Testing teams to implement and verify defined features.
- Document and share best practices; mentor less experienced engineers and uphold BorgWarner beliefs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.
- Experience in automotive electronics product development, power electronics (motor drive inverters), and systems engineering across the product life cycle.
- Deep knowledge of requirements elicitation, analysis, definition, and management.
- Experience with electronics systems, sensors and actuators; embedded software/hardware development.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills in English; French or German a plus.
- Organized, structured, detail-oriented work style; able to solve problems efficiently.
- Travel about 10% (domestic and international).
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering.
- Knowledge across electrical, mechanical, test, software, controls domains.
- Experience with Polarion or Doors for requirements management; SysML and/or MATLAB/Simulink modeling.
- Automotive electrical system experience; power electronics hardware/software design.
- Experience with FMEA, FTA, ASPICE and ISO 26262.
