Systems Administrator (Systems Administration, Analyst)

Summary The MIL Corporation seeks a Systems Administrator (Systems Administration, Analyst) to support a Federal Government client in Patuxent River, MD. This is a Systems Administrator role that will manage Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Linux based computer systems in support of the MQ-25 Carrier-Based Aerial-Refueling System program. This position currently requires an on-site schedule, with 5 days on-site and is eligible for Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, support and maintain Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems

• Administer and support VMware server/cluster environment

• Implement Risk Management Framework (RMF) methodology on assigned systems

• Maintain and update operating system security patches

• Maintain the system configuration standard using DoD based Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)

• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, coordinate resolution with internal technical resources and external vendors

• Document maintenance, repairs, and test activities; as well as include documentation updates as an integral part of every project

• Follow change control procedures during new implementations and changes to existing systems

• Create and maintain system documentation, diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

• Research and implement automated processes to improve operational efficiency

• Analyze and monitor the capacity and performance of systems and software applications and make recommendations for improvements as necessary

• Perform other duties and projects assigned

• Travel 30% - 35% to other sites, as needed

• Required Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in Microsoft Windows and/or Linux System Administration

• Ability to obtain Security+ CE certification or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) within 60 days of start

• Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

• Knowledge of Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) experience

• Familiarity with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)

• Familiarity with the RMF (Risk Management Framework) process

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Must be flexible with work schedule to include occasional weekends

• Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.

• Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of Navy systems, Networks, and IT infrastructure

• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate is a plus

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education and/or advanced certification; a Master’s degree will be considered in lieu of 3 years of professional experience
• Clearance
• All applicants for this position must possess a current Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance; please note that the clearance process considers financial background aspects.

Additional benefits and incentives may also apply, which will be communicated during the hiring process. For this position, the projected compensation range is $70,000 - $125,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL’s complete compensation package.
