About the Role System Reliability Engineer Specialist combines DevOps, Systems Administration, and Cloud Engineering to improve reliability of Scotiabank's critical infrastructure and applications on public cloud platforms. You will collaborate with application teams and Cloud Engineering to design and implement tools and processes that monitor and respond to system state in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. What You'll Do
- Manage the reliability of critical infrastructure platforms on public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Improve site availability, scalability, service and system performance; monitor and analyze bottlenecks
- Investigate system errors, perform root cause analysis, and implement disaster recovery, monitoring, and access management solutions
- Participate in solution design sessions and planning/retrospective meetings; provide guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations
- Build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure
- Support application teams in using the platform; advise on design patterns, best practices, and security
- Collaborate with the Cloud Engineering team to design and implement monitoring tools and automated responses to system state What We're Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in large enterprises
- Experience using Dynatrace and log analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication in English (B2)
- Relevant working experience in System Administration and/or Enterprise Operations
- Experience designing and implementing tasks in CI systems (Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform)
- OS experience (RHEL 9.x and Windows Server 2022+)
- Experience supporting GCP and/or Azure
- Experience with Kubernetes (GKE/AKS)
- Experience in Incident management, Change Management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in production environments
- Knowledge of Agile & Lean methodologies for requirements/design; detail-oriented, analytical, able to investigate complex/technical issues and provide alternative solutions Nice to Have
