About this role

Job title: Switch Quality Engineer

About the Role AMD is seeking a Switch Quality Engineer to drive supplier and manufacturing excellence for next-generation switch products used in AI, cloud, and high-performance computing. You’ll partner with design, manufacturing, assembly, product engineering, testing, system integrators, and suppliers to ensure products achieve the highest quality from initial release through the full lifecycle. You’ll lead data-driven quality improvements and supplier engagement across global operations.

What You'll Do

  • Drive supplier and internal technical organizations, including design, assembly, manufacturing, and product testing teams, to achieve high-quality product releases through review of test plans, qualification results, failure rates, DFx, xFMEA, NUDD, and supplier-led failure analysis.
  • Coordinate and manage quality activities with a focus on issue resolution, part approval, process control, quality assurance during NPI, advancement of analytics capabilities, risk identification, and mitigation planning.
  • Drive quality improvements related to design, materials, and manufacturing processes throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring critical quality data and test telemetry are sourced from system integrators and customers.
  • Monitor factory and field nonconformance metrics for switch products, including manufacturing yield, first-pass yield excursions, hardware replacement rates, and field quality performance, while driving process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action implementation utilizing 8D, 5-Why, statistical analysis, and industry-standard quality methodologies.
  • Collect and analyze large amounts of data to identify product and process performance trends, providing actionable recommendations to improve quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive switch debug and issue resolution activities involving both firmware and hardware defects.
  • Define switch supplier build report expectations, including reporting frequency, required quality metrics, expected data, yield monitoring, and escalation requirements.
  • Manage field and customer escalations as the primary quality interface with suppliers, driving containment, root cause identification, corrective actions, and long-term resolution of quality excursions.
  • Serve as an advocate for the customer through deep manufacturing knowledge, timely follow-through, and strong customer focus.
  • Capture supplier and customer feedback, track lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in quality and reliability performance against AMD and customer requirements.
  • Travel to supplier locations as needed to support manufacturing quality initiatives, supplier audits, investigations, and continuous improvement activities.

What We're Looking For

  • The successful candidate is a highly motivated quality leader with deep expertise in networking hardware, supplier quality, and manufacturing processes, with strong technical knowledge of switch systems and exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders at all levels; experience partnering with suppliers and customers to resolve challenging quality issues.
  • Data-driven mindset and passion for improving product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Nice to Have

  • Strong technical understanding of switch architectures, networking systems, and system-level quality concepts.
  • Experience applying DFx, xFMEA, NUDD, root cause analysis methodologies, statistical process control principles, reliability testing, failure analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Experience supporting cloud service providers, hyperscale customers, networking OEMs, or data center infrastructure deployments preferred.
  • Proven experience developing process quality plans, conducting supplier quality audits, and driving effective 8D corrective and preventive actions.
  • Proven experience leading quality excursions and resolving complex manufacturing, supplier, field, customer, and product quality issues, including executive-level quality reviews and management of critical customer escalations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive data.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: USD 139,120 - 208,680 per year.
