About the Role The University of Cincinnati Campus Recreation program is hiring Swim Lesson Instructors to lead American Red Cross progressive swim lessons for participants of all ages. Instructors may also coach junior swim team style classes, stroke clinics, and master's level practices. Both certified and uncertified staff are welcome to apply. What You'll Do
- Instruct American Red Cross progressive swim lessons and teach participants to be safe when in, on, and around water.
- Teach infants/toddlers, preschool, youth, and adults in group and/or private lessons; may coach junior swim team style classes, stroke clinics, and master's level practices.
- Maintain current attendance records and track class participants' progress; record results on report cards.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled WSI meetings and trainings; forward specific questions or concerns to the Aquatic Coordinator or Aquatic Supervisor.
- Maintain current certifications; comply with safety and risk management requirements.
- The hour requirement includes one lesson per week; may require early mornings, late nights, and holidays. What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED; enrolled at a post-secondary institution (part-time) or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
- Enrolled at least part-time; minimum age 16.
- Ability to stand, talk, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks; comfortable working with all age groups; capable of working on uneven/slippery surfaces and exposed to potential hazardous conditions.
- Strong communication, time management, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Student employee status may be retained for one additional term after graduation or withdrawal from enrollment. Nice to Have
- Active American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
- Experience teaching or coaching swim programs. Compensation & Benefits
- Pay rate - $13.40/hour for Certified Staff holding active American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certifications.
- Pay rate - $12.40/hour for non-certified assisting instructors.
- 20% discount on programs and services (excluding Pro Shop).
