Job title: Sweet Flavourist

About the Role The Sweet Flavourist role supports Kerry's flavour sales growth, creation, production and library maintenance by working with customer briefs and maintaining a vision of what will work best for customers and Kerry. The successful candidate may extend capabilities by mentoring Trainee or Junior Flavourists and will develop flavours while interacting with customers, other flavourists, sensory scientists, production and suppliers. They will have extensive knowledge of raw materials, finished products, production, regulatory, analytical and flavour application, and will continue to grow in flavour development through evaluation, experimentation and collaboration.

What You'll Do

  • Independently lead projects, developing flavours in line with business need and in response to customer brief
  • Proactively work with new ingredients
  • Utilise Kerry technology to deliver unique solutions to project brief
  • Work closely with all EUM within Kerry
  • Participate in technical presentation to customers
  • Lead work sessions with customers
  • Participate in the training of flavourist trainees
  • Compound and spray dry flavours as needed to fulfill project brief
  • Perform physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing and analysis of flavours
  • Work with analytical group on flavour matching projects
  • Employ thorough knowledge of relevant regulatory and labeling requirements for flavours
  • Work with cross functional team to optimise the strengths of Kerry and deliver the best Taste and Nutrition experience for our customers
  • Participate in sensory panels
  • Process raw materials and finished flavours through the different Kerry systems to maintain active status
  • Attend industry events and seminars to further flavour knowledge

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Life Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or relevant industry experience
  • Extensive experience in sweet flavour work on the bench
  • Good background in organic chemistry, food chemistry, flavour applications
  • Experience in powders, emulsions and liquid blending ideally
  • Good maths skills for problem-solving calculations
  • Trouble-shooting skills
  • Strong and discerning sense of smell and taste
  • Demonstrates passion for flavour creations
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams at multi levels within the organisation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Broad flavour experience across end-use is desirable
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change is desirable
  • Demonstrates no limitations to tasting a variety of materials is desirable
