About the Role
Join Fluor's surveying team as a Survey Crew - Party Chief. This role leads the field survey crew on projects, coordinating layout and data collection to support bridges, walls, pavement, earthwork, and underground utilities. Proficiency with Robotic Total Stations/Trimble is essential.
What You'll Do
- Lead, supervise, and direct the field survey crew; plan, assign, and review daily activities of a field survey crew in preliminary, location, construction, property, precise, topographic, or other engineering surveys.
- Lay out bridges, retaining walls, pavement grades, earthwork grades, and underground utilities/appurtenances.
- Operate, care for, and be proficient with Robotic Total Stations/Trimble and other survey equipment; capture data and photographs as needed.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental requirements; perform cleanup, material handling, and use of hand/power tools.
- Maintain equipment and manage field assistants; ensure adherence to safety standards and rigging practices.
- Stay current on surveying practices and guidelines; perform basic electronic survey data processing.
- Provide lead direction to the assigned field survey crew; coordinate daily activities.
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency with Robotic Total Stations/Trimble.
- Experience leading survey crews and performing preliminary, location, construction, property, precise, topographic, or other engineering surveys.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; able to work in varying weather and noisy environments.
- Knowledge of survey equipment and techniques (total station, GPS, theodolites, lasers, transits, tapes, range poles, rods).
- Experience laying out curves, determining volumes, mapping, and calculations used in leveling.
- Strong adherence to safety standards and ability to follow instructions.
- Clear understanding of functional operation and use of survey tools and data processing.
Nice to Have
- Knot tying (bowline & clove hitch), basic crane hand signals, and emergency stop signal familiarity.
- Knowledge and inspection practices for rigging equipment and hardware; basic rigging practices.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Base salary is $30.00 per hour, with pay based on experience.
