About the Role The Surgical Tech III serves as a scrub technician within the Surgical Services team. The role involves preparing supplies for cases, setting up and maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments to the surgeon, and preparing used instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization. It may also include providing in-service education and assisting with unit projects. What You'll Do
- Demonstrate compliance with Code of Conduct and policy requirements, and report suspected violations.
- Maintain aseptic technique according to Surgical Services policies.
- Anticipate surgeon’s needs by reviewing preference cards, procuring appropriate supplies before start of case, and monitoring case progression.
- Prepare supplies, room setup, and equipment for cases; maintain the instrument table and sterile field.
- Verify and label medications and irrigations on the back table with the nurse.
- Maintain and document sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the nurse.
- Accurately identify surgical specimens and transfer to the nurse.
- Prepare instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization.
- Assist with putting away supplies and room turnover.
- Provide leadership for unit-level safety projects. What We're Looking For
- Education: High school diploma or GED; if hired after 01/01/2025, successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or five years of additional Surgical Technologist experience in lieu of completion of training.
- Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute multi-specialty environment.
- Skills: Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff; ability to scrub for complex procedures; ability to take call; advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical technique; knowledge of OR emergency situations; critical thinking; understanding of sterile field and traffic patterns.
- Ages of Patients: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.

- Salary range: $29.14 - $44.26 per hour; 40 hours per week; Day shift.
