Job title: Surgical Tech II
About the Role Join Eisenhower Health as a Surgical Tech II. You will perform the duties of a scrub person; prepare supplies for cases, set up and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon, and ready used instruments for the cleaning and re-sterilization process. This role supports operating room efficiency and patient safety.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and report suspected violations.
- Maintain aseptic technique according to Surgical Services policies.
- Anticipate surgeon’s needs by reviewing preference cards, procuring supplies prior to start, and staying attentive to case progression.
- Prepare supplies, room setup and equipment for cases; maintain orderly instrument table and sterile field.
- Verify and label medications and irrigations on the back table with the nurse.
- Maintain and document accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the nurse.
- Accurately identify surgical specimens and transfer to the nurse.
- Prepare instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization.
- Assist with putting away supplies and room turnover.
- Provide leadership for unit-level projects to correct safety/clinical quality deficiencies; lead/implement changes at the unit level.
- Contribute to maximum efficiency of the surgical lineup to adhere to start times.
- Contribute to cost effectiveness by judicious use of supplies; assist with developing processes to improve cost containment and reduce waste.
- Remain current with new intraoperative techniques and equipment through unit-based and continuing education.
- Serve as a role model to new employees and other staff; coach team to anticipate resources; act as a preceptor to new staff and students.
- Participate in department projects; assist in developing policies, procedures and protocols at the department level.

What We're Looking For
- Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information.
- Ability to scrub for procedures without assistance within assigned areas.
- Ability to take call independently and respond for all specialties within assigned area(s).
- Advanced knowledge and practice of aseptic and surgical technique.
- Advanced knowledge related to OR emergency situations.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of the surgical environment regarding traffic patterns and contamination of the sterile field.
Nice to Have
- Experience coaching and mentoring new staff; ability to serve as a preceptor to students and new employees.
- Commitment to ongoing education and participation in unit-based and continuing education programs.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $27.75 - $41.94 per hour
- Hours: 40 per week
