About this role
Supplemental Instruction Leader roles are available for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 for qualified UM-Flint students. SI Leaders attend classes with students, meet with faculty, and lead two SI review sessions per week for each SI course facilitated. Training is required before starting, with an additional three hours of continuing training over the semester. The position is open to current undergraduate UM-Flint students or those who have attended UM-Flint within the past six months. You may also concurrently apply for a Tutor II position with the Student Success Center.
What You'll Do

Attend classes with students

Meet with faculty

Prepare for and lead two SI review sessions per week for each SI course (total of 6 hours per week per course)

Complete required SI training before and ongoing training during the semester

What We're Looking For

Current undergraduate UM-Flint students, or students who have attended UM-Flint within the past six months

Demonstrated excellence in the academic subject areas you wish to tutor

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to follow procedures for documenting student usage and hours worked

3.0 GPA or strong faculty recommendation if GPA is lower

Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement; onsite presence may be required

Compensation & Benefits

In addition to SI Leader appointment, hired as a general Tutor II at $15.00/hour

All tutors must attend a general tutor training paid at $15.00/hour

Tutor II (Temp) role; overall schedule varies week to week; occasional weekends/evenings may be required

Background checks will be conducted per University policy; may involve third-party administrator
