Supervisor, Support Services

The University of Utah Health, located at the Farmington Health Center, is seeking a Supervisor, Support Services. The role supports patient care operations by supervising the daily activities of the department, coordinating in-service and ongoing education, monitoring quality control and safety processes, hiring and training staff, evaluating performance, and scheduling work shifts. This position operates in support of the facility’s environment and is not responsible for direct clinical patient care. The operation runs 24/7 with rotating on-call shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operations of the department, including interviewing and hiring staff, training, creating work schedules, and distributing work assignments.

• Enforce the department’s written standards of practice, policies, and procedures, and initiate corrective action as needed.

• Evaluate job performance to ensure department standards are maintained.

• Resolve problems, provide support, and expedite service to hospital departments.

• Monitor safety and quality assurance by inspecting processes for completeness and accuracy.

• Maintain department records and prepare monthly reports.

• Monitor, order, and maintain stock of department supplies and equipment.

• Participate in hospital committees and meetings, as assigned.

• May assist in budget preparation.

• Perform additional duties of the department as assigned.

• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and the ability to protect patient information.

Qualifications

• Required: Associate’s degree in a related field, or the equivalent.

• One (1) year of experience in a related area.

• Depending on department of hire, a valid State of Utah Driver’s License may be required.

• Depending on department of hire, a valid CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement may be required.

• Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.

• Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• The position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects related to patient care or medical equipment. The role may require standing for extended periods and walking long distances between work sites.

• Carrying, climbing, color determination, crawling, far vision, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, near vision, pulling/pushing, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, tasting or smelling, and other related activities.
