Impact the Moment Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of others? At McGraw Hill the Supervisor, Instructional Designer, Dual Literacy (ELA/SLA) will help plan and develop instructional materials for Dual Literacy programs that are delivered in both print and digital formats.

What is this role about? McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for a Supervisor, Instructional Designer, Dual Literacy (ELA/SLA) for our K-12 division literacy programs.

This is a remote position and open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. This is a Project Status Worker (PSW) role with an end date of 08/31/2027.

You will be a valuable member of a collaborative group of Instructional Designers, closely partnering with teams focused on content, product management, UX, and creative media. As part of this team, you will create robust digital tools, curriculum and learning solutions in a variety of formats that are used by millions of educators and students every day. You are a digital savvy content and curriculum expert, responsible and accountable for assembling high-quality content based on specific product requirements for the Literacy programs.

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to solve complex problems and drive digital programs from inception to execution; remove barriers and navigate unknowns across delivery teams.
  • Make informed decisions to optimize resource allocation; manage scope-timeline-quality tradeoffs and drive tactical delivery.
  • Oversee external vendors and freelancers, ensuring quality, clarity, and alignment with project objectives; anticipate challenges or quality issues.
  • Supervise a dynamic team of Instructional Designers, guiding their efforts to create impactful educational content, and elevating team performance.
  • Serve as a mentor, offering constructive feedback and guidance to team members, nurturing their growth and development; building credibility through expertise, integrity, and open communication.
  • Drive talent management initiatives, ensuring current and future success through proactive growth and training plans.
  • Champion accessibility standards across all digital products, ensuring team compliance, quality expectations, and resolution of issues throughout the development process.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued; model resilience, adaptability, and a growth-oriented mindset to support teams through uncertainty and change.
  • Build bridges across teams and functions, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Utilize external perspectives to enhance products and services, articulating customer needs to drive meaningful solutions.
  • Champion innovation; encourage a culture of creativity and experimentation, fostering an environment where new ideas flourish and are refined.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and market dynamics, leveraging external networks to inform strategic decisions.
  • Apply financial acumen to support annual budget planning, resource allocation decisions, and team spend tracking; interpret key financial metrics to inform strategic resourcing across the team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with senior leaders and cross-functional colleagues, facilitating alignment and driving collective success.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field required.
  • Experience working with Spanish-language materials; prior experience as a Spanish, ESL, SLA, or dual-language teacher is a plus. A successful candidate may have previous K-5 teaching experience.
  • 4+ years experience working in digital content development that includes teaching and learning materials.
  • Prior people management experience.
  • Experience managing multiple projects within tight deliverables and budgets.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and influence trade-off decisions across scope, quality, time, and resources.
  • Experience designing digital platforms and creating learning experiences with authoring tools, learning management systems, and content management systems.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on practical, effective problem-solving.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI, and their application to instructional design and content development.

The pay range for this position is between $71,300 - $85,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Click here to learn more about our benefit offerings.
