Job title: SUPERINTENDENT
About the Role The Superintendent will act as the company’s field representative, overseeing day-to-day coordination and management of new construction projects. Based in Hampton Roads, VA, you will manage field operations, lead safety initiatives, and ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
What You'll Do
- On-site management of construction activities including maintaining the project progress schedule, coordinating work with internal resources and subcontractors, preparing material takeoffs, material management, reviewing subcontracts, reviewing estimates, evaluating change orders, and interfacing with customers.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, organize and schedule activities to achieve project goals within time and budget.
- Daily communication of on-site activities, issues, and progress to the Project Manager; document daily construction activities via field reports due by 9:00 am the following day and weather log by Monday 9:00 am.
- Work with Project Manager to ensure project costs, schedule and quality are maintained.
- Review contract documents to ensure compliance.
- Conduct weekly project meetings to coordinate status and ensure budget, schedule, and quality expectations are met.
- Assist the Project Manager in permitting and shop drawing/submittal processes.
- Maintain and enforce jobsite safety and security; perform weekly safety inspections and orientations with subcontractors; capture weekly safety meeting minutes; assist Safety Director with Job Hazard Analysis.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices and assist in cost projections.
- Coordinate temporary facilities; serve as primary problem solver and resolve field-related conflicts; initiate corrective actions as warranted.
- Maintain project records including plans, RFIs, specifications, submittals, change directives, change orders, and closeout docs; oversee warranty service during and after completion.
- Share knowledge and lessons learned from project experiences.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 5+ years of field management experience with demonstrated success working with project management through project completion.
- Exceptional ability to read, analyze and understand design documents, blueprints, and Microsoft Project schedules.
- Experience directing and leading building and site construction; strong OSHA knowledge and safety focus.
- Proficient with Word, Excel and Outlook; detail- and deadline-oriented with strong interpersonal, independent and teamwork skills.
- Advanced problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: USD 90,000 - 115,000 per year.
