About this role
About the Role Kelley Drye's summer associate program is designed to be customized to each participant's needs and interests, with small classes and a nine-week curriculum. The program combines in-house training, direct interactions with attorneys, and hands-on assignments to help you explore the breadth of our practices and identify where your talents fit.
What You'll Do
- Participate in a robust training curriculum that includes practical skills trainings and best practices advice from associates, introductions to different practice areas through panel discussions, hands-on training exercises, and opportunities to meet with administrative departments and management to learn about the firm.
- Work on real assignments with tight deadlines and high expectations; you will be staffed leanly and expected to roll up your sleeves.
- Receive formal feedback through mid-summer and end-of-summer reviews, with additional informal feedback after each assignment and opportunities to solicit feedback from attorneys.
- Benefit from mentorship as you navigate the summer program and the firm, with junior and more experienced attorney mentors providing ongoing personal and professional guidance.
- Engage in the social and experiential side of the program, including city-based events and activities that help you understand Kelley Drye's culture.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with challenging assignments and tight deadlines.
- Strong work ethic, curiosity, and comfort receiving feedback and using it to improve.
- Good collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills to work with mentors, attorneys, and staff.
Nice to Have
- Openness to building a network within Kelley Drye through mentoring and social interactions.
- Enthusiasm for feedback from both formal reviews and informal day-to-day comments, and for engaging with the firm’s culture.
