About the Role Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP runs a summer program that immerses summer associates in the Firm's values, provides exposure to substantive skills, and offers meaningful work for commercial and pro bono clients. The program includes orientation, mentorship, training, and social events, and serves as the firm's primary source of associate hiring.
What You'll Do
- Work with our attorneys on actual cases for commercial and pro bono clients, demonstrating legal research and writing skills.
- Shadow attorneys by attending client meetings or hearings.
- Engage in assignments across multiple practice groups (no formal rotation).
- Participate in the mentor program, including guidance on navigating the firm, work assignments, and the summer program.
- Attend the Summer Associate Training Forum in New York, with sessions on negotiation and oral presentations, and networking opportunities.
- Take part in social events to connect with attorneys and fellow summers.
What We're Looking For
- Strong legal research and writing skills developed through law school.
- Interest in both commercial and pro bono practice areas.
- Ability to work across multiple practice groups and take ownership of substantive work with mentorship.
- Proactive, professional, and collaborative approach; strong communication and relationship-building.
- Enthusiasm for mentorship, professional development, and a meaningful summer program.
