Job title: Success Coach

About the Role The Success Coach serves as a primary advisor and point of contact for students across academic advisement, campus involvement, financial aid counseling, and career development. The role involves partnering with students one on one to create personalized success plans, guide course selection and major decisions, and support a smooth transition from college to professional life within LIU’s four-year model.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as primary advisor and success coach for a working caseload of students.
  • Prepare students for transition to college and integrate new students into the intellectual, cultural, and social life of the University.
  • Support the student experience through LIU's four-year model from pre-enrollment through graduation.
  • Assist in pre-enrollment, admissions, orientation, campus, and career activities; reinforce the integrated college experience.
  • Plan and execute campus programming and seminars to enhance student life.
  • Provide leadership within academic, career, and student life initiatives.
  • Provide academic advisement through initial registration and major/degree selection as it pertains to career interests.
  • Interpret career assessment instruments and provide career resources and a timely career track congruent with students’ academic pursuits.
  • Review financial aid information and assist students with understanding financial aid procedures.
  • Coordinate with affiliate departments to achieve program recruitment and retention goals.
  • Complete weekly and monthly reports on retention, student registration, and other key performance indicators.
  • Other duties as assigned by Associate Directors and Director.

What We're Looking For

  • Passion for student success and experience working with college students in advising, career development, or student life.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to manage a caseload.
  • Knowledge of career development frameworks and familiarity with LIU Handshake and interpreting career assessment results.
  • Ability to work with international students and support immigration procedures and study abroad options.
  • Experience planning and delivering workshops, seminars, and campus programs; ability to collaborate with campus partners.
  • Flexibility to work with diverse student populations including commuters and on campus residents; willingness to cover evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Data-driven with ability to compile reports and track retention and enrollment metrics.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with international student immigration support.
  • Familiarity with NACE standards and career services best practices.
  • Experience planning orientation programs, marketing materials, and student leadership development.
  • Marketing and communications skills for campus events; experience with student organizations and program initiatives such as E-sports.
