Substation Engineering Manager

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Substation Engineering Manager to lead and expand our engineering team in the Power Delivery group. This role will shape a rapidly growing practice and support major utilities and transmission & distribution clients across the country. You will oversee a team delivering high voltage substation projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV, providing technical leadership and guiding project execution for both engineering-only and EPC models. What You'll Do

• Build, mentor, and manage a local team of substation engineers and designers.
• Provide technical leadership across substation physical (primary) and protection & control (secondary) design.
• Oversee development of engineering deliverables, including: one line and three line diagrams; general arrangements and equipment layouts; grounding, lightning protection, conduit/cable routing plans; protection & control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts; bills of material, specifications, and construction packages.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts with civil, structural, transmission, and SCADA/communications teams.
• Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Ensure engineering work meets quality standards, technical requirements, and client expectations.
• Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to support EPC execution, constructability reviews, and field issue resolution.
• Contribute to business growth by improving processes, developing standards, and supporting proposals and estimating. What We're Looking For
• 10+ years of experience performing engineering related duties and/or management for substation projects.
• P.E. license required.
• Knowledge of engineering and construction standards and processes including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.
• Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) or Graduate degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university.
• Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Competitive - demonstrating the desire to win the project and grow the team through leadership and teamwork.
• Must be able to communicate through emails and utilize electronic meeting requests.
• Must be able to represent Kiewit manner to owners, contractors, vendors and any other contacts outside the Kiewit organization.
• Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment.
• Legally able to work within the United States for any length of time. Sponsorship will be considered in special circumstances. Compensation & Benefits
• Base compensation: $152,000/yr - $160,000/yr.
