Entergy seeks a Substation Apprentice 1st Year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Under close supervision, the apprentice in training performs less difficult tasks and assists others in high and low voltage work involved in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of electric transmission and distribution substations and related equipment. The role requires the ability to obtain Substation switchman certification, read and follow technical manuals, understand AC and DC schematics and construction drawings, and be familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. The apprentice must be able to climb structures and ladders, operate lift trucks, perform routine and emergency maintenance, testing, initial installation, and restoration of substations and related equipment, and conduct substation switching with safe tagging and grounding procedures.
