- Review study abroad opportunities and deadlines, including pathways to Wales and partner institutions
- Meet with Dan Rowbottom, Director of the Madog Center, before applying
- Prepare and submit required materials: Study Abroad Applications, two letters of faculty recommendations, unofficial transcript, and a short essay
- Learn about host institutions (e.g., University of Wales Trinity Saint David) and plan travel and coursework What We're Looking For
- Interest in international study, cross-cultural experiences, and language immersion
- Ability to meet application timelines: October 1 – January 31 annually (with a November 1 – January 31 component for some periods)
- Willingness to study in Wales and enroll in English-language classes
- Openness to continuing Rio coursework online while abroad
- Enthusiasm for engaging with Welsh culture and diverse academic environments Nice to Have
