π About TubeScience
TubeScience is a performance creative company that makes high-volume, social-first video ads for some of the biggest direct-to-consumer brands. We combine creative storytelling with data, producing, testing, and improving ads at scale to drive real results for our clients. Our Los Angeles studio is where much of that content comes to life.
π‘ The Role
TubeScience is seeking a hands-on Studio Production Lead who knows how to make great social-first content efficiently, solve problems quickly, and keep a busy production studio running. This is a working lead role, not a traditional administrative management position. The right person understands camera, lighting, grip, sound, and production workflows; supports lean crews; and gets the most from existing equipment, sets, and resources.
The Studio Production Lead provides day-to-day operational direction and technical guidance to studio personnel. Formal people management, performance reviews, disciplinary decisions, departmental strategy, and final spending authority remain with the Director of Physical Production.
π¬ What Youβll Do
Studio Operations & Production Support
-
Keep sets, lighting, sound, equipment, and shared production areas shoot-ready for a high volume of fast-turn productions.
-
Coordinate day-to-day set utilization and resource availability with Production Managers, Supervising Producers, and Staff Creators; anticipate conflicts and propose workable alternatives.
-
Be a visible, on-floor first responder for technical and logistical issues; support setups, resets, strikes, and quick changes between shoots.
-
Maintain safe, orderly workspaces and escalate safety concerns promptly.
-
Set daily floor priorities and coordinate tasks for Studio Assistants, Equipment Coordinators, and other assigned studio staff within established departmental direction.
-
Train studio personnel and newly onboarded Staff Creators in equipment handling, basic lighting and audio, studio protocols, safety, and efficient production practices.
-
Help coordinate daily coverage needs and communicate anticipated gaps or competing demands early.
Technical Production & Equipment
-
Apply hands-on knowledge of iPhone/mobile and professional camera workflows, lighting, grip, and audio to troubleshoot shoots and guide equipment choices.
-
Support practical, standardized equipment packages suited to different social-first production formats.
-
Direct daily equipment checkout, returns, condition checks, storage, repairs, and readiness; maintain accurate records in Cheqroom or a similar platform.
-
Work with the equipment and product inventory teams to ensure requested resources are available, identifiable, and properly returned.
-
Recommend repairs, replacements, and purchases based on usage, reliability, and cost; obtain approval before committing spend.
Modern, Cost-Conscious Execution
-
Find creative, low-cost solutions using available sets, gear, and personnel before recommending external rentals or new purchases.
-
Help crews adapt lighting, audio, camera, and set configurations to meet creative needs without unnecessary complexity.
-
Support simultaneous shoots, rapid turnaround, and lean production teams while protecting quality and safety.
-
Identify avoidable downtime, missing gear, recurring technical problems, and inefficient resource use; propose practical fixes.
Operational Improvements & Communication
-
Maintain practical checklists and operating procedures for set readiness, equipment packages, checkout, returns, and routine troubleshooting.
-
Work with Production, Post, Facilities, and other partners to improve handoffs and prevent repeat problems.
-
Keep the Director informed of emerging issues, equipment needs, utilization constraints, and recommended solutions.
-
Use inventory and scheduling data to spot patterns, improve readiness, and reduce preventable rentals and disruptions.
𧬠What Weβre Looking For
-
Approximately 3β5+ years of hands-on studio production, digital advertising, technical production, or equipment operations experience.
-
Experience in a high-volume social-first content studio, digital advertising agency, or lean creator-led production environment strongly preferred.
-
Confident working knowledge of camera, lighting, grip, audio, mobile production tools, and studio workflows.
-
Ability to troubleshoot independently, prioritize competing needs, and make cost-conscious decisions under pressure.
-
Experience guiding crews or training junior teammates; formal management experience is not required.
-
Strong organization, communication, and comfort with equipment inventory and scheduling systems; Cheqroom or similar tools a plus.
-
A collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves approach with sound judgment about when to escalate.
π What Success Looks Like
-
Shoots begin with the correct, working gear and ready-to-use sets.
-
Equipment availability, condition, checkout, and returns are accurate and visible.
-
Routine technical issues and shared-space conflicts are resolved quickly with minimal disruption.
-
Preventable rentals, missing equipment, and downtime decrease.
-
Studio teammates and Staff Creators grow more technically capable and self-sufficient.
-
The Director can rely on the Lead to handle daily floor execution while retaining formal management and strategic oversight.
π§ Role Scope & Reporting
This role leads daily studio execution but has no formal direct reports. The Director of Physical Production retains hiring, performance management, compensation, disciplinary decisions, capital planning, and approval authority. The Lead may recommend improvements and coordinate work within approved parameters.
