Job title: Student Worker/Tutor
About the Role The Learning Center at LIU Post Campus seeks a Student Worker/Tutor to support College of Veterinarian courses as a POST Campus Tutor from Fall 2025 through Spring 2026. This is a federally funded Work-Study position; tutors must be referred by Dr. Brendan Caputo and interviewed by Marie Fatscher before applying. The role provides tutoring support to DVM students and helps maintain the Learning Center's tutoring program.
What You'll Do
- Tutor 1st year DVM courses: Veterinary Anatomy I, Physiology I, Histology, Immunology, Animal Welfare and Behavior, Anatomy II, Physiology II, Animal Nutrition, General Pathology.
- Tutor 2nd year DVM courses: Systemic Pathology I, Intro to Pharmacology, Veterinary Bacteriology & Mycology, Systemic Pathology II, Epidemiology, Pharmacology, Public Health and Food Safety.
- Work up to 12 hours per week in The Learning Center on the Library Main Floor.
- Maintain flexible hours: Monday–Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; evenings and weekends via Zoom.
What We're Looking For
- LIU student enrolled in an active degree program.
- Must have a 3.2 GPA and faculty or department chair recommendation for the tutoring courses.
- Must be referred by Dr. Brendan Caputo and interviewed by Marie Fatscher BEFORE applying.
- Complete an employment application and submit an updated resume.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $17 per hour (hourly).
- Hours: up to 12 hours per week.
- Period of employment: Begin May 2026; End May 2026. Location: Library Main Floor, Post Campus.
