Job title: Student Technician for Sports and Wellness
About the Role The Student Technician for Sports and Wellness supports the upkeep and operation of UIW's Sports and Wellness facilities (Wellness Center, Natatorium, and Fencing Center). This student role focuses on maintenance, cleaning, and safety, reporting to the Assistant Director of Sports and Wellness. This pool posting is for hires throughout the academic year, starting as early as July 2026.
What You'll Do
- Complete scheduled walkthroughs as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Sports and Wellness.
- Report repairs needed to the technician supervisor and assist with repairs and maintenance (outsourced and in-house).
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all fitness areas: sweep, vacuum, dust, mop floors; disinfect equipment; stock cleaning supplies.
- Keep equipment within the area safe, orderly, and sanitary; report needed repairs; maintain weight equipment for efficient operation.
- Organize and clean equipment; conduct preventative maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Required Education: Current full-time student at the University of the Incarnate Word.
- No prior work experience required.
- Required Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of fitness facilities, equipment, and tools.
- One or more years of work experience in the fitness and wellness industry.
- One or more years of work in the customer service industry.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $12 per hour.
- Work Hours: Varies, flexible schedule.
- This is a pool position with hires expected throughout the academic year and as early as July 2026.
