Job title: Student Tech - Psychology

About the Role The Student Tech – Psychology position provides support to the Psychology Department and individual faculty in research, scholarship, and department promotion. The role blends administrative, communications, and event coordination tasks with opportunities to assist faculty in scholarly activities and research under supervision.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with administrative work related to communicating with internal and external constituencies to promote enrollment and participation in Psychology Department events, including maintaining departmental brochures, website, blog, and social media sites.
  • Publicize departmental events and assist with recruitment activities, Open House, and other recruitment events.
  • Support faculty in scholarship and service, including data collection, tutoring, organizing study sessions, and handling clerical/administrative duties (copying, filing, scheduling, correspondence, internet searches, database maintenance).
  • Create practice exercises and/or draft research protocols and documents such as IRB forms tailored to student/faculty needs; gather and compile data for reports; create and manage databases.
  • Assist with poster printing, coordinating departmental programs, special events, meetings, and seminars; assist in social science laboratory or field research as assigned.
  • Interact with external audiences (prospective students, researchers) and attend recruitment activities as needed; demonstrate flexibility to work evenings/weekends as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries; open to supervision and corrective feedback.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled Stevenson University student in good standing; psychology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram); proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publications) and Internet searches; knowledge of Adobe Creative Products (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong multitasking ability, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines; self-motivated and able to take the lead on technical projects; excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with faculty, administrators, peers, and external audiences.
  • Ability to interact with external audiences (prospective students or researchers at other institutions); flexible and able to work independently and as part of a team; problem-solving and decision-making skills to meet individual needs of faculty or students.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; openness to supervision and corrective feedback; occasional evenings/weekends as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a social science laboratory or field research setting.
  • Prior tutoring or supplemental instruction experience; ability to assist other students with laboratory and/or writing assignments.
  • Familiarity with reviewing and providing feedback on student papers or classroom exercises.
