About the Role The Student Success Coach (Advisor) at the University of Rio Grande serves to support students across academics, personal well-being, policy navigation, financial aid, mentorship, and career development. They help schedule courses, decide on a major, and map degree requirements while connecting students with campus resources to promote success academically and personally. What You'll Do
- Provide academic guidance including course selection aligned with major, interests, and career goals
- Assist with degree planning to ensure graduation requirements are met
- Evaluate and advise on transfer credits from other institutions
- Direct students to wellness resources and mental health services, and advise on work-life balance, time management, and stress
- Provide crisis support resources during personal or academic crises
- Clarify college policies, academic standards, and procedural guidelines
- Assist in academic appeals, petitions, and understanding impacts of decisions
- Help navigate financial aid options, scholarships, and budgeting
- Serve as a personalized mentor guiding education and future decisions
- Offer career counseling on paths, internships, and job opportunities related to the field of study
