What Difficulties Might I Face?
Up to this point, I’m sure there have been many things that you find intriguing about the role; however, there can be difficult times:
Working Hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the last ball has been hit.
Travelling Abroad: You can expect to spend, on average, up to 240 days per year on tour away from home. Whilst there are glamorous locations where major tournaments are held, there are also some less glamorous locations too. The countries we visit and the amount of time we spend in those countries will vary from year to year based on where tournaments and events are located.
Working & Living in Different Time Zones: This role is tour-based, which means you will be spending some time away from family and friends, where social events could be missed. Also, working in different time zones can make communication more challenging.
High-Pressure Situations: Working in a live broadcast environment on a production that is distributed to millions worldwide will bring high pressure.
Technical setup: You will be working predominantly with PCs, cameras and related software. A strong work ethic and attitude towards troubleshooting is important in this role.
All of these factors offer different challenges daily as an operator. We will do all that we can to train you and support you to the best possible level, but these challenges should be considered before submitting your application.
