About the Role Rio Health Services at the University of Rio Grande operates as a nurse-directed basic first aid and minor short-term illness clinic located in the Rhodes Center. The service aims to promote health and wellness through education, prevention, and accessible campus care. What You'll Do
- Provide basic first aid and care for minor illnesses and injuries, including routine blood pressure checks, wound care, suture and staple removal, and height/weight/BMI screening.
- Conduct rapid testing for Strep, Flu, and COVID-19, administer influenza vaccines, and perform urinalysis, glucose screening, and TB skin testing.
- Support immunization management (including meningococcal and Hepatitis B vaccine records) and work with students on vaccine waivers when required.
- Manage the New Student Health Portal: booking appointments, updating emergency contacts, submitting required forms, and securely messaging the campus nurse.
- Coordinate with partners to support health programs (e.g., EatSafe with dining services, local health department visits for reproductive health exams and HIV/STI testing).
- Maintain patient records in the secure electronic medical record system and provide guidance on keeping students healthy while attending campus. What We're Looking For
