Student Assistant – Office Support
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mental Health Services Student Assistant for Office Support will provide administrative and logistical support for Mental Health Services. This position will help maintain an organized, welcoming, and functional space for students to utilize to rest, recharge, and conduct private virtual counseling sessions through Timely Care.
The student assistant will help monitor and maintain designated private rooms used by students for virtual appointments, assist with the organization and preparation of the space, and provide general administrative support to Claire Arnold, the Director of Wellness and Mental Health Services. This position does not provide mental health treatment or advice to students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide a kind, welcoming, and professional presence at the front desk for students visiting the Mental Health Services suite.
- Help maintain and organize the Mental Health Services suite, including designated private rooms used by students for virtual counseling appointments through Timely Care.
- Monitor use of the virtual-care rooms and help ensure spaces are clean, orderly, private, and ready for student use.
- Help organize office supplies, informational materials, and resources within the Mental Health Services suite.
- Prepare rooms and materials for student use and wellness programming.
- Help identify and communicate basic maintenance requests or technology concerns with the appropriate campus office.
- Assist with maintaining informational displays, brochures, flyers, and other wellness related materials.
- Create and post social media content for Mental Health Services
- Assist the Director with administrative projects, organization, data entry, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Maintain appropriate privacy and discretion when working in a mental health services environment.
- Refer students seeking counseling, crisis support, or other clinical assistance to the Director, Timely Care, or the appropriate professional or campus resource rather than attempting to provide support independently.
- Perform other duties related to student wellness and mental health services as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Current Schreiner University undergraduate student eligible for work-study employment.
- Strong people skills.
- Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable interacting professionally with students, faculty, and staff.
- Able to maintain appropriate privacy and discretion.
- Comfortable learning basic office and technology systems.
- Interest in student wellness, mental health, health promotion, or supporting the college community is preferred.
- Proficiency in Canva is preferred

IMPORTANT BOUNDARIES OF THE POSITION
This is a non-clinical student support position. The student employee will not provide counseling, crisis intervention, mental health assessments, clinical advice, or other mental health services. Student employees will receive guidance regarding appropriate boundaries, privacy, and procedures for directing students to professional resources.
