Structural Steel Welder / Fitter – 1st & 2nd Shift

Location: Cocoa, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shifts Available: 1st and 2nd Shift Pay Rate: Up to $26.00/hr., depending on experience 2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hr.

Position Summary

We are hiring experienced Welders and Fitters to fabricate, weld, and assemble metal components in a shop environment. Candidates must be able to read blueprints, use fabrication tools, and complete work according to quality specifications and safety standards.

Structural steel experience is preferred but not required. All work is performed in the shop; no travel or field work is required.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine layouts and fabrication requirements.

  • Perform welding tasks according to project specifications and industry standards.

  • Measure, cut, prepare, align, fit, and assemble metal and structural steel components.

  • Set up and operate a track torch and use applicable welding equipment.

  • Use fabrication tools and equipment, including oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.

  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, hand tools, and shop equipment safely.

  • Inspect completed welds and assemblies for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.

  • Work with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality goals.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous welding, fitting, fabrication, or similar metalworking experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

  • Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and materials.

  • Ability to set up and operate a track torch.

  • Ability to pass all required Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) tests.

  • Experience measuring, cutting, aligning, fitting, and assembling metal components.

  • Familiarity with oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.

  • Welding certification, such as AWS, preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.

  • Commitment to quality and workplace safety.
