About the Role As a structural estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing bid documents and preparing quantity and cost estimates for the structural scope. You will also be involved in developing the execution plan and scheduling during the pre-project phase. What You'll Do
- Prepare cost estimates with the team for major projects in Canada, reviewing owner plans and specs to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project
- Perform quantity takeoffs and labor requirements; conduct material takeoffs for permanent and temporary supplies
- Contribute to subcontracting call-for-bid creation, coordinate with bidders, and analyze commercial and technical proposals
- Determine construction equipment needs; participate in building a construction plan that serves as the basis for the estimate
- Participate in estimator coordination meetings and bid closure steps; coordinate with planning, procurement, and proposals teams
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, professionals, subcontractors and suppliers; support the estimation group and Ganotec as an expert in structural elements What We're Looking For
- Experience in steel structures or a technical/engineering education
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in construction/estimation
- Full understanding of construction methods in Canada and ability to read plans and specifications
- Excellent command of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of BlueBeam is a plus
- Ability to learn new software and adapt to new tools; experience in heavy industrial, hydroelectric or mining project environments is a plus
