Your Opportunity

The role of a Structural Designer/EIT is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The Structural EIT will work under close supervision of a Senior Engineer to assist on plans and designs of structural engineering projects such as bridges and other transportation structures.

A Structural Designer/EIT will perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans and designs of structures and facilities such as bridges, highway interchanges, roadway reconstruction, subway stations, railroad infrastructure and public spaces.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Uses knowledge of relevant structural engineering of bridges and other transportation structures
• Assists team in preparing construction contract documents, plans and reports
• Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
• Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer
• Performs basic calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
• Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Basic understanding of Mathcad, Microstation, Leap Bridge, MDX or other relevant design software is a plus
• Knowledge of calculations performed by software
• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
• Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with electives in Structural Analysis, concrete/steel design and foundations is desired along with the ability to attain your EIT in the first year of employment. Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. Co-op/Internship experience preferred.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
