Job Description Welcome2Africa International is seeking a meticulous and proactive Strategic Finance Officer to join their team in Abuja.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across the group's entities, ensuring all books and ledgers are up-to-date. Your duties will include performing bank, cash, and inter-company reconciliations, promptly resolving any discrepancies.

You will manage receivables by issuing invoices and diligently following up on payments, as well as manage payables by maintaining schedules and preparing payments for approval. Recording costs and income against trade transactions will be crucial for tracking deal margins, and you will also maintain separate records for grant and donor-funded program expenditures.

This position offers a fantastic opportunity for an early-career finance professional to contribute significantly to the development of a group's finance function, working closely with the Strategic Finance Lead. You will also support budgeting, prepare schedules for monthly management accounts, and ensure all records are audit-ready for statutory filings and annual audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date books and ledgers for each entity in the group.
  • Carry out bank, cash, and inter-company reconciliations according to a regular timetable and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Manage receivables by raising invoices and following up on sponsorships, retainers, facilitation fees, and trade proceeds until collected.
  • Manage payables by maintaining schedules of outstanding obligations, preparing payments for approval, and keeping supplier records organised.
  • Record costs and income against each trade transaction and mandate to track margins for individual deals.
  • Maintain separate records of grant and donor-funded programme expenditure for partner reporting.
  • Handle day-to-day finance administration, including expense claims, petty cash, and payment documentation, ensuring records are filed in the group's shared drive.
  • Support budgeting and prepare schedules for monthly management accounts.
  • Maintain audit-ready records and support statutory filings, tax returns, and the annual audit.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Progress towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, ICAN, or an equivalent qualification is an advantage.
  • Practical bookkeeping and reconciliation experience.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Zoho is useful.
  • Strong attention to detail and persistence in resolving discrepancies.
  • Discretion when handling confidential financial information.
  • Curiosity about business operations and ambition to grow with the finance function.
