Overview
Welcome2Africa International is seeking a Strategic Finance Officer to maintain accurate financial records across its group entities, support reconciliations, manage receivables and payables, and ensure financial documentation is organised and audit-ready. The role offers an opportunity for someone early in their finance career to contribute to the development of a group's finance function while working directly with the Strategic Finance Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books and ledgers for each entity in the group.
- Carry out bank, cash, and inter-company reconciliations according to a regular timetable and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Manage receivables by raising invoices and following up on sponsorships, retainers, facilitation fees, and trade proceeds until collected.
- Manage payables by maintaining schedules of outstanding obligations, preparing payments for approval, and keeping supplier records organised.
- Record costs and income against each trade transaction and mandate to track margins for individual deals.
- Maintain separate records of grant and donor-funded programme expenditure for partner reporting.
- Handle day-to-day finance administration, including expense claims, petty cash, and payment documentation, ensuring records are filed in the group's shared drive.
- Support budgeting and prepare schedules for monthly management accounts.
- Maintain audit-ready records and support statutory filings, tax returns, and the annual audit.
Requirements

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Progress towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, ICAN, or an equivalent qualification is an advantage.

Practical bookkeeping and reconciliation experience.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Zoho is useful.

Strong attention to detail and persistence in resolving discrepancies.

Discretion when handling confidential financial information.
