About the Role The Strategic Finance Manager, R&D will partner with Miro’s R&D leadership to shape where we invest in people, software, and AI/cloud infrastructure. You’ll own end-to-end planning and build the unit economics that explain how AI products make money, while actively using AI to automate repetitive analysis. This role is hybrid and based in our Amsterdam hub. What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end R&D Financial Planning & Forecasting: headcount, software, and AI/cloud infrastructure spend, with a high bar for forecast accuracy and clear executive narratives
- Headcount Strategy & Workforce Planning: partner with R&D leadership and People Operations to model hiring plans, location strategies, and capacity scenarios
- AI Cost Strategy & Optimization: build unit-economics models for AI cost base and lead cross-functional initiatives to reduce costs without slowing the roadmap
- Investment Cases & Strategic Decision Support: develop business cases for major R&D bets (build-vs-buy on AI tooling, model/provider selection, and infrastructure commits) and provide clear recommendations
- AI-Powered Finance Operations: advance use of AI to automate variance analysis, reporting, and modeling workflows
- Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Partnership: translate R&D economics into concise board/ELT materials and serve as the trusted finance partner to R&D Stream Leads What We're Looking For
- 5+ years in strategy/management consulting, investment banking, strategic FP&A, BizOps, or corporate strategy, ideally with exposure to high-growth SaaS or cloud-native businesses
- Advanced financial modeling skills (forecasting, scenario analysis, unit economics, cohort analysis) and ability to triangulate across multi-source data
- Experience partnering with senior technical stakeholders (engineering, product, infrastructure) and influencing decisions without authority
- Strong interest in AI/cloud cost dynamics and hands-on familiarity with using AI tools to accelerate finance work
- Exceptional communication: ability to turn complex financial topics into one-pagers for SVPs; bias to action and comfort with ambiguity
