Job Description Keep the kitchen running smoothly from receiving to service! As a Storekeeper I, you’ll receive and inspect food and supplies, verify temperatures and documentation, and ensure products are properly stored, dated, and rotated using FIFO practices. You’ll maintain inventory and quality assurance records, assist with food prep and product movement, and help keep kitchen, storage, dish room, and equipment areas clean, safe, and organized.
We’re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented team member who takes pride in food safety, sanitation, organization, and customer service. The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, follows established procedures, and can provide direction and training to student employees. Experience in food service, receiving, inventory, sanitation, or kitchen operations is a plus.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Checks incoming orders against items listed on requisitions, invoices, or other proper forms for correct counts.
- Counts, grades, weighs, meters, and sorts incoming items and supplies.
- Marks with identifying codes, sorts, and stores supplies in proper location according to prescribed methods for convenient removal.
- Takes items from stock to fill requisition and issues equipment and supplies to students, faculty, or staff as requested with proper authority.
- Initiates orders and supplies as needed; delivers and picks up supplies and materials to location as required.
- Assembles or mixes materials, solutions, and equipment stored, in accordance with specific instructions.
- Maintains records on issuances, periodically takes physical count of stock on hand, and prepares reports as necessary.
- Drives, loads, and unloads a delivery truck periodically.
- Operates equipment such as dollies, carts, etc., in handling and transporting supplies and equipment.
- Maintains stockroom in clean and orderly manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a food service, kitchen, warehouse, storeroom, or receiving environment.
- Experience receiving, inspecting, storing, and rotating food, supplies, or other products.
- Experience maintaining inventory, completing records, or monitoring product temperatures.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance practices, including FIFO inventory methods.
- Experience providing direction, training, or oversight to student employees or other staff.
