About this role
Gannon University seeks a STEM Center Tutor with a major in Accounting to support students in Erie, Pennsylvania. This role provides flexible, impact-driven tutoring within the STEM Center, helping students overcome academic challenges and deepen their understanding of course material while developing professional skills.
Responsibilities
- Tutor peers in STEM subject material they are qualified to cover.
- May seek or perform other necessary STEM Center tasks with approval, including preparation, training, or activities that benefit the STEM Center and university stakeholders.
- Participate in initial and ongoing paid training as required.
- Maintain one regular paid guaranteed shift per week (approximately 3 hours) in the late afternoon to early evening, typically 4–7 PM, Sunday through Thursday, for tutoring and related duties.
- Establish additional on-call tutoring availability within library hours of operation for paid tutoring appointments (up to about 3 additional hours, with potential for more, though not guaranteed).
- There will typically be one tutor per major (one per set of similar majors) for each area traditionally served by the STEM Center.
- Support collaboration, use scheduling systems and digital tools, and contribute to a positive learning environment for students and the STEM Center community.
- Opportunities exist to develop critical thinking, communication, teamwork, digital literacy, leadership, professionalism, career management, and intercultural fluency through tutoring and Center activities.

- Major and significant course load aligned with the position title (Accounting).
- High GPA and a positive reputation with faculty.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, collaborate with others, and maintain professionalism.
- Ability to adhere to ethical guidelines and respect student confidentiality.
- Availability for the regular weekly shift and potential additional on-call hours as described.
