About this role
Gannon University seeks STEM-PASS tutors for PHYS 105 in the STEM Center. This role is based in Erie, Pennsylvania, and supports faculty-approved courses through structured, on-campus tutoring that enhances student understanding, confidence, and communication. The position supports a cohesive group learning environment throughout the semester, with opportunities to observe student growth and develop professional presentation and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare for and facilitate group study sessions and recitations for students in a designated course
- Attend class sessions with students when possible to stay aligned with material and expectations
- Conduct two one-hour tutoring sessions per week, with regular communication with faculty and STEM Center staff
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure a high-quality student experience and participate in occasional training sessions
- Attend weekly team meetings and maintain reliable, scheduled tutoring hours; provide flexibility for preparation time as needed
- Sit in on class periodically to re-experience material and student expectations
- Support the STEM Center’s mission by assisting with group study sessions and other initiatives as needed
Requirements

Academic qualifications to tutor the designated PHYS 105 course

High GPA and a positive reputation with faculty

Strong interpersonal skills and professional conduct

Final instructor approval

Ability to sit in on class during designated times (preferred windows: MWF 10:10–11:05 or MWF 11:15–12:10)

Demonstrated reliability to maintain scheduled hours and participate in class observations as required

This position is suitable for students with Federal Work Study eligibility, though other students may be considered; prior STEM Center experience and prior application are preferred
