About this role
Statutory Inspection Specialist (f/m/d)
Take ownership of statutory inspection activities across offshore wind projects and ensure that inspection results are technically sound, completed on time and fully traceable. Join us and help maintain high standards across our offshore wind operations.
Your position In your new position as Statutory Inspection Specialist (f/m/d) within Operations Support, you will be part of the four-person Statutory Inspections Team. You will coordinate, carry out and evaluate assigned recurring inspections across several projects. Standardised inspection steps are performed by suitably qualified technicians or authorised inspectors, while you take responsibility for complex inspections, technical evaluations and any follow-up required within your personal inspection authorisation.
The role is primarily onshore and focuses on inspection planning, technical evaluation, documentation and defect management. Offshore assignments are required when inspections are complex, findings remain unclear, practical instruction is needed, or quality controls must be completed. The position does not follow a fixed offshore rotation.
At Semco Maritime, safety is a core value. In this role, you will contribute directly to a strong safety culture by ensuring reliable inspection outcomes, initiating protective measures where required and driving the documented closure of identified defects.
Your place of work can either be in Emden, Lower Saxony at one of our major facilities or at our central office space in Hamburg, Germany, right at the pulse of most of our customers. The position is full-time, and you can expect to travel ~50% per year, both on- and off-shore.
Your tasks & responsibilities As Statutory Inspection Specialist (f/m/d), you will be responsible for the technical management and evaluation of assigned statutory inspection activities.
Your tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating inspection assignments with planning teams, projects, qualified technicians, authorised inspectors and external inspection bodies
- Reviewing qualifications, inspection scopes and evidence against the approved inspection matrix, and evaluating reports, measurements, photographs and functional test results
- Conducting on-site inspections that require a physical examination or that cannot be covered by regular technician assignments due to their complexity, the nature of the defects, or the required qualifications
- Assessing defects and safety risks within your authorised inspection area, initiating restrictions or stop-work measures where necessary, and tracking corrective actions through to documented closure
- Providing technical guidance to field technicians on testing methods, documentation of evidence, and escalation criteria, as well as feedback on training needs
- Ensuring complete, auditable documentation in Mobi and ERP in line with health, safety and environmental standards
Your profile & qualifications We are looking for a structured and safety-conscious technical professional who combines sound judgement with a consistent approach to documentation and follow-up. You are comfortable challenging incomplete or inconsistent evidence, making independent decisions within your area of authorisation and escalating safety-relevant findings when required.
To succeed in this position, we imagine that you have:
- A completed technical vocational qualification, for example as an electrician, mechatronics technician or mechanic, or a comparable qualification
- Documented qualification in accordance with TRBS 1203 for at least one assigned inspection area, together with the required formal authorisation for independently responsible inspections
- Several years of experience in the maintenance, inspection and technical assessment of equipment in offshore wind or a comparable technical environment
- Knowledge of relevant requirements, including BetrSichV, TRBS 1201 and 1203, DGUV and DIN EN, as well as confidence in evaluating inspection reports, measurements and photographic evidence
- Proficiency in Mobi and ERP systems as well as reliable, traceable documentation and defect management
- Valid offshore safety training and offshore medical certificates, or the willingness to obtain them
- Fluency in English and German, both in written and spoken form
