About the Role The Standardized Patient (SP) is trained to portray patients, family members, or others to allow student learners to practice physical exam skills, history taking, and communication. This is a part-time, as-needed role located at UIW's School of Osteopathic Medicine at Brooks City Base in South San Antonio, TX. SPs are often observed and evaluated by students and faculty, and must maintain a professional demeanor; the SP reports to the Clinical Outreach & Standardized Patient Manager. What You'll Do
- Portray all characteristics of a real patient, simulating the signs and symptoms of particular patient cases.
- Receive and incorporate feedback from facilitators into case simulations for learning purposes.
- Practice case assignments in advance of clinical events.
