Job title: Staff/Principal AI Engineer
About the Role
As a Staff/Principal AI Engineer at Everlaw, you will design and execute our AI strategy and drive the use of AI across our product to support our mission of being the AI leader in legal discovery and litigation technology. AI is central to our product, and you’ll help scale AI across millions-to-hundreds-of-millions of documents and multimodal inputs, guiding a core squad of AI engineers and providing technical guidance to engineers across the broader organization.
What You'll Do

Lead the design and implementation of Everlaw's technical AI strategy, staying on the cutting edge of frontier models and participating in early access programs with major AI labs to provide direct feedback on unreleased models and API design.

Devise our overall approach to using AI at trillions-token scale and guide the work of engineers across the company in adopting AI.

Lead by example in staying abreast of evolving AI research, open-source offerings, and best practices, and provide technical guidance to engineers to uplift the broader engineering organization.

Collaborate with a community of staff and principal engineers across databases and storage technologies, search, cloud infrastructure, full stack SaaS design, data science, and performance, with regular visibility to our CTO and other senior leaders.

Contribute to Everlaw's culture of learning, growth, and impact while onboarding and integrating you into the team quickly onsite in Oakland, CA, with 3 days/week in the office.

What We're Looking For

Experience leading the design and implementation of a technical AI strategy for a product-facing, large-scale software platform.

Expertise with frontier models and the ability to engage with early access programs to evaluate unreleased models and API designs.

Demonstrated ability to design and scale AI systems to trillions of tokens and handle multimodal inputs, while guiding engineers across an organization.

Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
