About the Role Databricks is seeking a Staff Technical Solution Engineer to join our Cleared Engineering team in McLean, VA. This role sits at the intersection of core infrastructure operations and platform reliability, ensuring multi-cloud data enclaves and secure GovCloud environments run flawlessly inside air-gapped partitions. You will tackle complex system blocks, performing deep-dive analysis and tooling inside secure boundaries to unblock internal engineering teams in a high-consequence compliance environment.
What You'll Do
- Drive technical triage, infrastructure visibility, and incident resolution for Databricks' multi-cloud data enclaves and Generative AI software in air-gapped environments.
- Unblock Secure Engineering Pipelines by serving as the essential secure-zone operational interface and triage burden for GovCloud system interactions.
- Execute Advanced Tooling & Scripting by safely executing and adapting infrastructure scripts, automation tools, and diagnostic workflows within secure boundaries.
- Optimize Environment Patching by identifying and resolving systemic environment blocks and ensuring compliant patch deployment pipelines.
- Maintain Guardrails & Compliance by navigating evolving operational frameworks within secure facilities (SCIF) and ensuring GovCloud interactions meet federal security benchmarks.
What We're Looking For
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- 7+ years in Systems Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, Support Engineering, DevSecOps, or related role.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Bash, or Java and ability to read/edit troubleshoot software and infrastructure code.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Hands-on debugging and systems administration in major public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong Linux/Unix, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and automated patch deployment pipelines.
- Bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work at McLean, VA secure facility; flexibility for 24x7 coverage in SCIF as required.
Nice to Have
- Active Counterintelligence (CI) or Full Scope Polygraph (FSP).
- Experience supporting AWS WWPS, OCI Federal Support, or defense integration environments.
- Experience navigating federal compliance frameworks, GovCloud boundaries, or air-gapped environments.
- Demonstrated tenure and ownership in complex engineering or defense-intelligence spaces.
Compensation & Benefits
- Local Pay Range: $153,400 — $210,850 USD. Total compensation may include annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
