Job title: Staff Software Engineer - Money Team
About the Role Databricks' Money team builds and operates the billing, metering, pricing, and cost-optimization tools that monetize our products. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will design and manage Money systems, standardize billing across cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), and help bring Databricks products to market with a unified billing experience.
What You'll Do
- Design and manage Money systems and services to monetize Databricks products and offerings.
- Develop primitives enabling pricing strategies such as Pay-As-You-Go, commissions, credits, trials, and promotions.
- Improve engineering efficiency and reliability: CI/CD processes, test frameworks, data quality assurance, end-to-end reconciliation, and anomaly detection.
- Collaborate with commercialization experts to develop and implement innovative pricing plans.
- Use AI and LLMs to drive cost insight, prediction, and optimization across cloud providers.
- Become expert at using the Databricks Data + AI tools.
- Provide leadership in long-term product vision and requirements; represent Databricks at academic and industry conferences.
What We're Looking For
- BS or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
- Technical leadership experience in large projects including near real-time large data processing and distributed service infrastructure management.
- Proven track record of building, shipping, and managing reliable distributed services and data pipelines at scale.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead across functional and organizational boundaries.
- Proactive, high-quality solution-focused mindset.
Nice to Have
- Experience with billing/invoicing, metering, credits, trials, and promotions.
- Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and pricing/cost-optimization work.
- Experience with Databricks Data + AI tools and AI/LLMs for cost insights.
Compensation & Benefits
- Local Pay Range: $182,400—$247,000 USD.
- Total compensation may include annual performance bonus, equity, and additional benefits as listed.
