Job title: Staff Software Engineer - Backend
About the Role As a software engineer with a backend focus, you will work with your team to build infrastructure and products for the Databricks platform at scale. Our backend teams span many domains across our essential service platforms and tackle challenges from distributed systems to developer experience. You will contribute to building reliable, high-performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing large data on cloud storage backends.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with your team to design, build, and operate scalable backend services and infrastructure for the Databricks platform.
- Deliver reliable and high-performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing large amounts of data on cloud storage backends (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Store).
- Build reliable, scalable services and data pipelines (e.g., Spark, Databricks) to power pricing infrastructure serving millions of cluster-hours per day; develop features to empower customers to view and control platform usage.
- Work across product and infrastructure domains to address distributed systems, at-scale service architectures, monitoring, and developer experience.
- Contribute to a SaaS platform and/or Service-Oriented Architectures.
What We're Looking For
- BS (or higher) in Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of production-level experience in one of: Java, Scala, C++, or similar language.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
- Good knowledge of SQL.
