Job title: Staff Software Engineer - Backend
About the Role Databricks is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Backend in Bengaluru, India to contribute to building high-performance backend services and data infrastructure across multiple domains. You’ll work on distributed systems, scalable services, and data pipelines powering pricing and usage features.
What You'll Do
- Build reliable, high-performance backend services and client libraries for storing and accessing data on cloud storage backends (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Store).
- Develop scalable services using Scala, Kubernetes, and data pipelines (Apache Spark, Databricks) to power pricing infrastructure used by millions of cluster-hours per day.
- Contribute to the DDS team across Apache Spark data plane, Delta Lake, Delta Pipelines, and Performance Engineering.
- Collaborate with product management as a Full Stack engineer to deliver great user experiences.
What We're Looking For
- 12+ years of production-level experience in Python, Java, Scala, C++, or similar language.
- BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems from scratch.
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, or Delta Pipelines.
- Experience with cloud platforms and data infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
