About the Role As a Staff Software Engineer on Temporal's AI Foundations team, you will help design and implement agent optimization features for a leading open source durable execution system. You will collaborate with ML, platform, and developer experience teams to make AI-driven agents reliable, scalable, and easy to troubleshoot. What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize AI foundations features focused on agent optimization for the Temporal platform.
- Collaborate with product managers, researchers, and platform teams to shape roadmaps and deliver high-impact improvements.
- Mentor and review code, foster strong engineering practices, and contribute to open source software. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Java and distributed systems; experience with machine learning or AI concepts.
- Familiarity with design patterns, open source software, and developer experience improvements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Nice to Have
- Experience with AI agent systems, orchestration, or workflow scheduling.
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure) and modern tooling. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range USD 224,000 - 302,400 per year.
