About the Role Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, through University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), seeks a Part-Time Staff Nurse for the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates within the correctional system.
What You'll Do
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological and emotional needs of resident-patients (adolescents 13-17 and adults 18-64) and their families within the correctional system.
- Performs assessments of resident-patients in a variety of settings, including initial intake areas, health care units for sick calls, emergency situations in housing areas, chronic care clinics, and infirmaries.
- Works with a variety of health care professionals within the correctional health care environment.
What We're Looking For
- Experience providing direct and indirect nursing care in ambulatory settings, with a primary focus on ambulatory care for inmates.
- Ability to perform comprehensive nursing assessments across multiple settings.
- Experience working with adolescent (13-17) and adult (18-64) populations within a correctional health care system.
- Ability to operate effectively within the correctional health care environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
