About the Role University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Part Time Mental Health Staff Nurse (RN) for the Northern State Prison in Newark, New Jersey. The role focuses on ambulatory care within a correctional setting, using the nursing process to assess and address the health needs of inmates. What You'll Do
- Utilize the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus.
- Collaborate with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.
- Frequently function guided by nursing protocols and serve as a team leader as assigned.
- Demonstrate competency in assessment and identification of the psychological and physical health of adults (18 to 64) and geriatrics (65+) across all population groups and their personal strengths.
- Identify inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implement prescribed interventions and solutions. What We're Looking For
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Demonstrated competency in assessment and identification of psychological and physical health across adult (18-64) and geriatric (65+) populations.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team in a correctional environment, including security staff.
- Capacity to follow nursing protocols and function as a team leader as assigned.
