About the Role Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full Time Staff Nurse for the Southwoods State Prison located in Bridgeton, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of resident-patients, including adolescents (13-17) and adults (18-64), and their families within the correctional system.
- Perform nursing assessments in a variety of settings such as initial intake, health care unit for sick calls, and emergencies in housing areas.

- Knowledge of the nursing process and ability to apply ambulatory care concepts within a correctional health care setting.
- Ability to address physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of inmates across age groups.
- Comfort working in a correctional environment and providing care in diverse situations.
