About the Role

The Staff Engineer - Validation will define and execute validation and test plans for chip-level silicon validation and characterization of Marvell’s internal IPs used in High-Speed SerDes, including PLL, Equalizer, high-performance ADC, Serializer, DAC and Driver, BandGap/RefGen, and Temperature sensor. This role requires hands-on bench work and automation to enable reliable data collection and end-to-end system validation in collaboration with Architecture, Design, and Pre-silicon Validation teams.

What You'll Do

  • Create, define and develop validation and test plans for chip-level silicon validation/characterization on Marvell internal IPs used for High-Speed SerDes, key IPs such as PLL, Equalizer and high performance ADC, Serializer, DAC and Driver, BandGap/RefGen, Temperature sensor and others.
  • Implement bench automation in Python to execute automatic data collection both using standard bench equipment and customized toolsets; develop robust tests and data pipelines.
  • Handle test setup and debug of failures; understand end-to-end system scenarios and coordinate with Architecture, IP design, and Pre-silicon Validation teams.
  • Work with IP design team to define test specifications to fully cover items needed for IP validation and characterization.
  • Develop device-controlling software (Python, C++, Matlab, Excel VBA a plus); perform data analysis and prepare silicon test reports.
  • Provide IP debugging support to SoC teams and internal FAE training on IP features.
  • Collaborate with IP design team on new chip features, bring-up, and develop technical collateral such as application notes, user guides, and datasheets.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related fields; 3-5 years of industry experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in analog/digital circuits and data communication systems.
  • Experience with semiconductor chip lab testing, measurement, test script development, and familiarity with electronic test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of SerDes technologies (preferred): PCI Express, Ethernet, USB, SATA, SAS, CPRI, JESD, etc.
  • Good communication skills in English; able to work independently with limited guidance; analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Prior experience in HW validation, HW-SW integration, and developing test plans for networking system features (Nice to have).
  • Knowledge of high-frequency lab instruments such as DSO, SSA, VNA (Nice to have).

  • Experience with high-frequency test equipment or laboratory automation.
